Nursery News Autumn 2 Week 2

This week along with the rest of the school we focused on climate change and how we can help to make our school and environment a better place. We started the week by listening to the story Dinosaurs and all that rubbish. The children listened to Mrs Bowen and Mrs Dinsey tell the story using a small world version of the book they had created. The children were very curious about this story and it provoked lots of questions and comments about our world. During explore learning lots of children have retold the story using the props and lots of learning and discussions about our world has taken place. As a class we created a poster to help us be more sustainable in nursery, we included points such as; turning the lights off when we go out of the room, turning the taps off, making sure our snack rubbish goes in the correct bin and how we could travel to school by foot, scooter or bike.

We also learnt about the 3 R’s- reduce, reuse and recycle and learnt how to make our own recycled paper. We enjoyed mixing shredded paper, water and glue together and then rolling it out and hammering it flat to make new paper.
