The last week of this busy half term has been full of learning about different 2d shapes and their properties. We commented on the shapes we noticed in the classroom and then the children enjoyed creating their own shape pictures. To further explore shapes, we looked at the story “Ship Shapes” and commented on the different shapes we could see. The children noticed that triangles can look a little bit different from one another. We then created our own ships made out of different shapes. The children commented on the shapes they had used and began to explain their reasoning about the shapes used, for example, “I know it’s a rectangle because it has 4 corners and two long sides and two short sides”, “I have a triangle, it has 3 sides and 3 corners”.
In PE the children have enjoyed using the apparatus and have learnt how to jump safely. To end our week we took part in a cycling session with Rob from the Bicycle Society. All children enjoyed using a balance bike with Rob, playing a variety of games to practice balancing. We cant wait to play some of these games when on the balance bikes in nursery. Can your child remember the golden cycling rules?
The Nursery team would like to wish everyone a healthy, happy half term and look forward to seeing everyone after the break.
