Year 1 News 28.3.22

This week has been Safety Week. On Monday the children took part in an E-safety workshop and talked about the 4 things they should not share online: their name, age, address and school.  We also went on a perimeter walk around the school thinking about how to stay safe when entering and leaving school.
On Wednesday it was road safety day.  The children had great fun following the velodrome in the playground, concentrating on when they need to stop cycling/scooting at the different road signs e.g., the zebra crossing.

In maths we have been working on counting in 2s and 5s. We have then used this knowledge to make different values of money using 2 and 5 pence coins. In English we have been writing up our innovated instructions about how to plant a magic bean and make something grow. We used our instruction map and actions to make sure we remembered each part.

On Friday the children took part in a whole school scavenger hunt in the playground. They worked in teams with children from year 2 and reception to complete all the stations. Year 1 really enjoyed working with the children from the other years.

We hope you all have a lovely Easter break.
