Year 1 News 13.4.22

Throughout the week the children have continued to water and look after their plants in the outdoor area. They also used a cm ruler to measure the height of the plants that had been growing over the Easter holidays, predicting why some had grown taller than others. In English we have been reading the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes and the children wrote about their favorite part, working on adding the word ‘because’ to their sentences.  In maths we have been finding out when a number can and cannot be shared equally between two groups. The children then linked this to their knowledge of even and odd numbers.
On Friday it was Earth Day and the children have been thinking about how they can look after their Earth. They have looked at the 3Rs; recycle, reuse and reduce. They then had the opportunity to design a new use for a plastic cup and came up with lots of great ideas.
