The children have had a busy but fun week learning outside.
We have enjoyed sitting quietly in the woodland taking in our surroundings and using our senses to describe it. This gave the children ideas for adjectives when they wrote a setting description later on in the week.
They have been learning the story of Hansel and Gretel and have put actions to it to remind them of the sequence of events. We have also explored the character’s feelings at different points in the story and used freeze frames to show these.
In Science, we visited the woodland to learn about woodland habitats and why certain animals are suited to this type of environment.
In maths, we have learned to find near doubles of a number and explored how this can help when we are adding. We have also regrouped 2 digit numbers using number bonds to 10, using part whole models to show the answers.
