Nursery Latest News – Summer 2 – Week 3

What an active week we have had for Sports week. The children have learnt the key ways to keeping a healthy body and mind. We have explored lots of different sports, looked at healthy food choices and learnt some relaxation techniques such as yoga. Each day has begun with some aerobics, the children really enjoyed moving their bodies to pop music and observing the changes in their heart rate. They were surprised how fast it was beating!

It was lovely to hear all about the children’s favourite sport, they enjoyed showcasing their skills and telling their friends all about the equipment they use and the clothing worn. We made a bar chart to see the popularity of each sport. The children then used their maths skills to work out which was the most popular sport. Football came out on top with 19 children choosing it as their favourite. It was interesting to look at how many different teams that were represented.

The highlight of the week was nursery sports day. We were impressed with the children’s skills and sense of team work, it was lovely to see how they worked well as a team and cheered each other on. They demonstrated such determination and resilience which are great learning behaviours not just for sports but for all aspects of learning and life. We hope you all enjoyed watching your children as much as they enjoyed taking part.
