Nursery Latest News – Summer 2 – Week 4

This week the children were surprised to find a mystery map. There were lots of suggestions as to who had left it in nursery, a dragon, dinosaur, chicken and an elf were all suggested. They used their map reading skills to follow the map, which first led them to a letter from Princess Pearl. She needed their help in finding lost items she had dropped while flying past Malvern Way. The children worked as a team, using their map reading skills and positional language they recovered all of Princess Pearl’s lost items. They were quick to guess the title of the focus text ‘ Zog’ and enjoyed listening to the story and retelling the story with props.

In PE the children had lots of fun playing parachute games and singing familiar songs such as ‘ five cheeky monkeys’. They worked together to move the parachute around in a circle and were successful in running under the parachute to change places with a friend.

In maths the children enjoyed a whole class bingo, they quickly subitised the amount on the dice and then matched the amount to a picture that represented that amount on their bingo board. They were very speedy at seeing an amount. Well done children great progress in your maths. They were very competitive and delighted in shouting BINGO once their board was complete.

Patrick the school tortoise came to visit, the children enjoyed seeing him first hand and were pleased to handle him with their kind and gentle hands. They commented that he had grown in size and really enjoyed watching him move around.
