This week we started talking about our exciting transition into reception. The children enjoyed sharing a transition book all about their new classes. This introduced them to the adults in the reception team and the exciting activities they will explore when they start school in September. They were all fortunate to enjoy a lovely story time with a member of the reception team in their new classes. All the children are talking very positively about their new classes and the exiting adventures ahead.
The children enjoyed a trip to the dinning hall where they met the cook who showed them the serving hatch and talked through the routine of lunch time. They have enjoyed practising all the necessary skills such as carrying their own tray to a table in the role play dinning room. It’s been lovely to see how well the children are collaborating together and using their manners words when ordering lunch .
The children have impressed us with their art skills producing lovely self portraits to display in their new classes. We were very impressed with how they observed themselves carefully, noticing all their physical features which can be clearly seen in their finished drawings. The children will deliver them to their new class teachers next week, they will certainly be impressed!
It was a pleasure to be invited to a ‘Hiphop Hooray’ sharing assembly. We got to watch our friends perform some of their street dance moves which they have been learning in their dance class they attend before school. We were blown away with the children’s moves and confidence to perform on the stage in front of such a large audience.
Well done to all those nursery children that took part. We are really proud of you.
