Nursery News- Spring 1- Week 5

This half term has flown by and we have all been very busy exploring and learning new things. The children have continued to develop their independence with their zips!

This week to continue our learning about 2D shapes the children enjoyed a hunt around the school to see what shapes they could see. The children had their own clipboard and made marks to record the shapes they saw and how many of each shape. Once back in the classroom, a large pictogram was made to see which shape we had the most of and which shape we did not see many of. In explore learning lots of the children chose to hunt in our classroom and outdoor area, talking about the shapes they could see and their properties. Outside we have tipped logs on minibeasts hunts and watched the birds fly back and forward to their nests. Lots of the children have used their knowledge of birds to predict which birds may be in the nest.

In phonics we have continued learning about alliteration and enjoyed sorting items by their initial sound. At the art table the children have explored the block paints and enjoyed mixing colours together making new ones.

We would like to wish everyone a fun filled half term break.
