Nursery News – Summer 2 – Week 5

This week we started our own class story based upon Janet and Allan Ahlberg’s book Peepo!

The children bought pictures of themselves in whilst out and about busy doing things. The children were very Curious Cats commenting on what they can see in the pictures. We then put the pictures into our book and joined in with the repeated refrains: Here’s the nursery children, what can they see, 1,2,3 Peepo!

During our P.E sessions we have had lots of fun with the parachute. We learnt how to move it round and round and up and down. We then enjoyed the washing machine games, where children sit in the middle of the parachute and are spun around. Lots of fun was had by all.

We have continued to learn about sea creatures and have enjoyed using our creative skills to create sea creature puppets. The children learnt the skill of making a spring out of paper by folding it. They then used these ‘springy’ pieces of paper for the crabs claws.

The children enjoyed finding out what class they will be in next year and who their new teachers will be. Over the coming weeks we will spend time visiting and exploring the reception environment.

RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch

Today the Eco warriors took part in the RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch. We located ourselves near the allotment beds because we’ve heard lots of chirping there before. We only saw one little sparrow making the noise but we did see a lot of pigeons, one blackbird, 2 crows, 1 magpie, 4 black headed gulls and one red kite.

It’s not too late for you to take part at home too – you have until the 19th February!
