Reception Latest News- Autumn 2 Week 5

On Monday, the children were very excited as we began our Christmas play rehearsals on the stage. They have all been working hard to remember to their lines using a loud and clear voice. On Tuesday, we had a visit from Revd. Robert who came to talk to the children about Advent. He showed the children the five candles and explained how Advent is marked by the 25 days or four Sundays before Christmas. The children enjoyed listening to a special Christian story about the birth of Jesus.

Later in the week, the children took part in an art lesson where they used a sketching pencil to make horizontal, vertical, diagonal and swirly lines in preparation for more accurate drawing. They also enjoyed decorating the classrooms for Christmas by a making variety of Christmas crafts such as: paper chain Christmas trees, Advent wreaths and baubles.

RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch

Today the Eco warriors took part in the RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch. We located ourselves near the allotment beds because we’ve heard lots of chirping there before. We only saw one little sparrow making the noise but we did see a lot of pigeons, one blackbird, 2 crows, 1 magpie, 4 black headed gulls and one red kite.

It’s not too late for you to take part at home too – you have until the 19th February!
