Year 1 Latest News – Summer 1 Week 3

This week the children have enjoyed re-reading the story of ‘Jack and the beanstalk’ and creating a class story map to help them retell the story. As classes, we then innovated the story to create our own version.

Later in the week, we attended a drama workshop led by West End in schools based on the King’s Coronation. The children were enthusiastic and followed the actions for a dance and enjoyed playing some drama games.

The children have enjoyed getting outside into the polytunnel to help water our plants and vegetables. We are very excited that the seeds have grown and there are leaves starting to appear. We are looking forward to observing more changes over the next couple of weeks.

RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch

Today the Eco warriors took part in the RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch. We located ourselves near the allotment beds because we’ve heard lots of chirping there before. We only saw one little sparrow making the noise but we did see a lot of pigeons, one blackbird, 2 crows, 1 magpie, 4 black headed gulls and one red kite.

It’s not too late for you to take part at home too – you have until the 19th February!
