Reception News Summer 1 Week 2

We began our week with an Art lesson where we followed the process of ‘Austin’s Butterfly’. The children carefully sketched their own butterflies improving and adding detail to their drawing at each stage. They also enjoyed observing our class caterpillars and commenting on the changes they’ve noticed this week.

We have started our ‘Come Outside’ topic off with the traditional tale ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. The children have enjoyed learning the story, planting their own beans outside and using mixed media to create their own beanstalks. In literacy, they used their phonic knowledge to write about their favourite part of the story.

RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch

Today the Eco warriors took part in the RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch. We located ourselves near the allotment beds because we’ve heard lots of chirping there before. We only saw one little sparrow making the noise but we did see a lot of pigeons, one blackbird, 2 crows, 1 magpie, 4 black headed gulls and one red kite.

It’s not too late for you to take part at home too – you have until the 19th February!
