Explorers

Geography

As geographers our children are encouraged to explore the immediate and local environment through practical experiences using opportunities to think, question and investigate in order to develop their understanding. Our curriculum inspires children to become global citizens as they begin to make sense of the world around them. They develop an understanding of their responsibilities to others, the environment and to the sustainability of the planet.

History

As historians our children use the local area as a starting point to any historical enquiry which provides them with first-hand experience that they can feel a connection with. We utilise our children’s experiences of special events to capture their interests and develop their historical skills through drama, photos and artefacts.

PSHCE

As community members, children are encouraged to celebrate and explore their role within a diverse world. They learn to value differences and individuality. Our children are resilient learners; curious about the world and willing to accept challenge as they work collaboratively. They are confident communicators who learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships. Our children develop skills to challenge injustice and overcome barriers in their lives.

Religious Education

RE enables our children to build their sense of identity and belonging. They respect and gain an insight into religious beliefs in our world, local community and our school. The children are given first hand experiences from places of worship, visits from religious leaders and visitors in the local area.
