Year 1 Latest News – Summer 1 Week 5

This week we talked about life cycles. We enjoyed sharing our baby photos with one another and guessing who was who! We learnt that a life cycle is when a living thing changes and grows. We also learnt about the term ‘metamorphosis’ when something starts as something and changes into something completely different – just like our caterpillars turning to butterflies! We then worked together to use pictures and actions to create a text map for the lifecycle of a ladybird to support our own lifecycle writing next week.

In maths, we have looked at repeated patterns and arrays. We focused on counting in 2s and learnt that an array is a representation of a number or pattern. This learning will support as we progress onto multiplication.

During discovery, some of the children have worked on creating their own lifecycle sketches into their art books. They also enjoyed collaborating together to create their own life cycle.
