Year 1 Latest News – Summer 2 – Week 2

This week the children have started to learn about non-chronological reports in English. After reading about what gymnasts do, the worked in small groups to find out about a sport that they were interested in. It was lovely to see the children working together and sharing their ideas.

Later in the week, the children continued to explore the programme called Scratch. The children had to follow an algorithm to get Scratch to move from one place to another. Working collaboratively, the pairs of children shared ideas on solving problems when Scatch didn’t go to the correct destination. Some children enjoyed exploring algorithms using the Beebots in discovery time.

In maths, the children have continued to learn about time. They have explored reading the time on an analogue clock to the hour and half past. In discovery time, some children enjoyed creating clocks on the ground outside to help them understand the positions of the numbers on a clock.
