Year 1 Latest News

We have had a fantastic week welcoming the children back after the Easter break. It was lovely to hear and read all about the different things the children have been up to; going on safari, enjoying time with grandparents, playing board games at home and going on Easter egg hunts!

We began the week by reading our focus text for the next couple of weeks, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We listened carefully to the story and then spoke about the beginning, middle and end of the story. We discussed the main characters of the story and how there are two different settings to the story.

This week we also welcomed some new mini beasts to the classroom… caterpillars! We will be observing them as they change and learning more about life-cycles during this half term.

We were all excited to see lots of new activities on the playground at lunchtime. Our zoned areas show that there are games to play with friends, activities for calm time, an area for construction and an area for team games and bike riding.
