16.1.23 – 20.1.23
The children have been linking their Concentrating Crocodile learning behaviours this week. All the children innovated the story of ‘Dear Zoo’ and provided actions to practise their story. It was great to see some of the children invent their own stories too and change who their story was for. The children have worked independently to write their story using key skills they have learnt.
In maths we looked at naming and properties of 2D and 3D shapes. We learnt the vocabulary faces, vertices (corners) and edges. We went on a 3D shape hunt and looked for objects in our school environment to match 3D shapes.
Discovery has been focused around Chinese New Year where the children have listened to stories, created lanterns and learnt about the celebrations around Chinese New Year.
Mostly excitingly, we have loved welcoming some of our fury pets to school this week! We met a rabbit called Daphne, a black long-haired retriever called Disco, a cockapoo called Tilly and a hamster called Fudge. It has been great for the children to see a variety of pets and they were curious to ask questions about the different animals.
