Year 2 Latest News – Autumn 2 Week 4

In English this week, we wrote diary entries from the perspective of Guy Fawkes during the Gunpowder Plot. It was lovely to use our learning from history lessons in our English writing. We made sure we included thoughts and feelings, time connectives, conjunctions and adjectives to make our diaries exciting. They were fantastic to read!

In maths, we continued to develop our understanding of money by adding and subtracting different amounts. We then learned about finding change from a larger amount and used coins to do this practically.

During geography, we learned about the features of maps (a key, grid references, symbols) and remembered how to read a map correctly using the rhyme ‘along the corridor and up the stairs’. We then looked at maps and answered questions by finding specific places on the grid.

This week we have enjoyed practising our Christmas production on the stage. We have been trying to use confident, loud voices and thought about using actions to make our acting more exciting to watch. In PE lessons, we have started to learn our dance for the Christmas play too!

RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch

Today the Eco warriors took part in the RSPB’s Great British Birdwatch. We located ourselves near the allotment beds because we’ve heard lots of chirping there before. We only saw one little sparrow making the noise but we did see a lot of pigeons, one blackbird, 2 crows, 1 magpie, 4 black headed gulls and one red kite.

It’s not too late for you to take part at home too – you have until the 19th February!
