Year 2 News – Spring 1 – Week 5

Week commencing 06.02.23

This week we enjoyed making our dragon eyes using clay. We used the joining and modelling skills we have been learning to add detail and to make sure our designs hold together. The children also explored using the clay tools and the effects that can be made with them.

In English, the children have written diary entries in the role of Zog the dragon and then followed instructions to make a paper plate dragon. They really enjoyed making them and then wrote their own instructions for someone else to follow!

In music, we learned another note to play on the recorder and had fun putting three different notes together in a tune. We also thoroughly enjoyed applying our knowledge of music in computing, using different tools on computer software.

Have a look at the website if your child would like to try it at home:

This week was Children’s Mental Health week, so our PSHCE topic linked to this. The theme for this year is ‘Let’s Connect’ and the children watched a short video to explore this. They then shared with each other different ways they connect with people all day, every day! Each child completed a puzzle piece and we then put them together as a class to show how we connect as group.
