Year 2 News – Spring 2 – Week 1

Week commencing 20.02.23

This week the children had the exciting opportunity to visit Windsor Castle! They enjoyed watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony as the guards marched and played huge drums. The children were able to go inside St George’s Chapel and the State Rooms. It was amazing to see the interesting objects and paintings inside – it was very grand and special. They also looked carefully at the outside of the building and discussed the features of castles they have learned in history lessons, such as motte and bailey, arrow slits and gargoyles. The children had a fantastic day! On Friday, we then wrote a non-chronological report to inform other people about Windsor Castle using facts from our trip.

Year 1 News – Spring 1 – Week 5

This week was Children’s Mental Health week, so our PSHCE topic linked to this. The theme for this year is ‘Let’s Connect’ and the children watched a short video to explore this. They then shared with each other different ways they connect with people all day, every day! Each child completed a puzzle piece and we then put them together as a class to show how we connect as group.
